Mediport images

Video of my partly loopy, post op self after replacing my mediport. It was about an hour to remove the old one and place the new port. Performed by Ken Ramirez RPA-C.

Filmed and edited by Sarel Gaur MD. Mediport Placement– For Patients.

To fill or withdraw fluid from the Lap-Band or Realize gastric bands used in Bariatric surgeries.

To administer analgesics to patients with chronic pain, such as cancer .

Some ports are specially designed for use during imaging studies, such as computed tomography (CT) scans. These are called “power-injectable” ports. Power-injected CECT scans produce superior images to help better manage patient care. Such scans are often used to track tumor markers or perform pulmonary embolism studies. The chemoports were inserted either at the angiography suite or at the mobile operation theater unit.

Ninety percent of the chemoports had right internal jugular vein (IJV) . The computerized images are susceptible to distortion by certain metal- containing objects. Many implantable ports are constructed of metal. Trying to access my stubborn port for Remicade treatment! Chemotherapy port: thank goodness for modern medicine.

What does it look like and what will it feel like. An interventional radiologist will place the port in your chest. When the catheter is placed in your chest, the . Ultrasound gel is used to improve the contact of the transducer to the skin in order to improve image quality.

Ultrasound guidance is helpful because it provides real-time or live visualization for the interventional radiologist to advance the needle directly into the vein during the venous puncture (or access) process. Fluorscopic shot shows that the chest port is appropriately positioned and is not flipped. The access needle (linear curved density in the central lucent circle of the port) is in-situ and the tubing is not kinked. Each of our five dedicated angiography suites has the full range of imaging technology needed for complex procedures, along with the latest in patient monitoring and documentation systems.

Central line for blood drawing and medication administration. May administer continuous infusion IV vesicants. Ports placed for patients receiving chemotherapy are NOT generally restricted to chemotherapy infusions only. Lowest incidence of catheter- related bloodborne .
