Types of ohmmeter

The meter which measures the resistance and the continuity of the electrical circuit and their components such type of meter is known as the ohmmeter. It measures the resistance in ohms. The micro- ohmmeter is used for measuring the low resistance and the mega ohmmeter measures the high resistance of the circuit.

An ohmmeter is an electrical instrument that measures electrical resistance, the opposition to an electric current. Micro- ohmmeters (microhmmeter or microohmmeter) make low resistance measurements.

Megohmmeters measure large values of resistance.

The unit of measurement for resistance is ohms (Ω).

While testing, repairing or troubleshooting electronic equipment, you use different meters and different types of test equipment to test proper circuit currents, resistances, voltages and to decide whether the wiring is faulty. Another type of ohmmeter is the SHUNT OHMMETER. When the test leads of an ohmmeter are separate . There are many types of ohmmeters available such . The statement regarding to the accuracy is not intended in an unfavorable sense. The digital ohmmeter displays the value of unknown resistance digitally, in the form of numeric digits.

Ohmmeters are available in two forms i. What electrical quantity is measured by an ohmmeter? What other measurement can an ohmmeter make? What area of an ohmmeter scale should be used . When precision measurements are require some type of bridge circuit is used.

What is the most obvious difference . A simplified schematic of an ohmmeter is shown in figure 8-137. Also , Rh (resistance at half scale deflection ) is regarded as internal . The error in ohmmeter measuring due to battery aging. The accuracy of shunt OHMS ADJUST control is less than the Series OHMS ADJUST control in the series type ohmmeter.

The ohms scale for the shunt type ohmmeter is backwards. The ohm meter is one of the most basic pieces of electronic test equipment. Also, explain how improper use of a “megger” may actually be hazardous, either to the operator of the meter or to the circuit under test.

The ohmmeter is one of the instruments contained.
