What does the anterior chamber do

Aqueous humor is the clear fluid that fills the anterior chamber. Hyphema, anterior uveitis and glaucoma are three main pathologies in this area. In hyphema, blood fills the anterior chamber . The drainage route for aqueous humour flow is first through the posterior chamber , then the narrow space between the posterior iris and the anterior lens (contributes to small resistance), through the pupil . The anterior segment is the front third of the eye that includes the structures in front of the vitreous humour: the cornea, iris, ciliary body, and lens.

Within the anterior segment are two fluid-filled spaces: the anterior chamber between the posterior surface of the cornea (i.e. the corneal endothelium) and the iris.

The iris controls the amount of light that enters the eye by opening and closing the pupil.

The iris uses special muscles to change the size of the pupil. These muscles can control the amount of light entering the eye by making . The vitreous chamber is the large chamber at the back of your eye, the anterior chamber is the space between your cornea and iris, while the posterior chamber is the space. As well as nourishing the cornea and the lens by supplying nutrition such as amino acids and glucose, the aqueous humour will. These layers lie flat against each other and form the eyeball.

The slight bulge in the sclera at . In most situations, this can be addressed by injecting viscoelastics at the time of surgery. In some people the anterior chamber of the eye may become narrow or blocked. Based on the amount of eye illuminated the ACD can be graded.

It is imperative that this choroid not be penetrated because it will result in massive hemorrhage and probable loss of the globe. Instea the surgeon should close the trabeculectomy site and wait. Can you first tell us what the difference is between the anterior chamber and the posterior chamber?

The posterior chamber is behind the iris, but in front of the lens. Most of the interior of the eye is taken up by its two fluid-filled cavities: the anterior segment and the posterior segment of the eye. These fluids are called the aqueous humor and vitreous, respectively. The anterior chamber should have the lowest pressure, and the vitreous chamber the highest.

Between the iris and the cornea, the anterior chamber can be located. It drains from the eyeball from the scleral venous sinus after receiving the fluid from the anterior chamber. Convergence occurs so that each retina will be allotted the same amount of light when focusing in on an object that is close at hand. The following chapters will explain anatomy and function of the three . Rods are more numerous than cones and much more sensitive to light, but they do not register color or contribute to detailed central vision as the cones do.

Normally, the aqueous humor is produced in the posterior chamber, flows slowly through the pupil into the anterior chamber , and then drains out of the eyeball . The Posterior Chamber consists of small space directly posterior to the iris but anterior to the lens.
