Working principle of ir transmitter and receiver

IR sensor circuit is used to detect the presence of IR signals from electronic device. Get idea on Infrared detector circuit diagram and working principle. The block diagram of an IR remote switch consists of two sections: a transmitter section and the other receiver section.

The IR beam in the transmitter section produced by the infrared LEDs is directed to the receiver section. Infrared communication involves transmitting data in form of IR signals through IR transmitters like LEDs and receiving data from IR receivers like TSOP.

Here in our circuit we are building IR remote and its receiver.

Working principle of IR sensor.

When the IR transmitter emits radiation, it reaches the object and some of the radiation reflects back to the IR receiver. A simple project, which demonstrates the principle of Infrared (IR) communication using IR Transmitter and Receiver is explained here. As mentioned earlier, the circuit is divided into IR transmitter and IR receiver circuits.

The working of the project is as follows. Resistors of the range of kilo ohms. Here an operational amplifier (op-amp) of LM 3is used as comparator circuit.

Thus the output of the comparator ( LM 339) goes high and the LED starts glowing. Some of the typical applications . An IR sensor consists of two parts, the emitter circuit and the receiver circuit. The emitter is an IR LED and the detector is an IR photodiode.

The IR phototdiode is sensitive to the IR light emitted by an IR LED. IR rays have the characteristics of producing secondary wavelets when it collides with any obstacles in its path. This property of IR is used here. If you answered yes to these questions, then this instructable is perfect for you. The receiver reads those flashes and then performs the action associated with that code.

The transmitter has an IR LED in it and the receiver has an IR detector in it. The IR remote is generally used in home theatres and is based on the principle of using infrared light as the medium of communication. The way that this receiver works is very similar to the way that we as humans beings work.

An everyday example of this is found in TV remote controls. A resistor connected to an LED (lets call this D1) that yields a . The basic principle of IR sensor is based on an IR emitter and an IR receiver. Please refer to component list in website for related electronic components.

I show how the cheap IR remotes work and what the protocol is. Based on this principle , the second positioning of the sensor couple can be made . The IR LED and the photodiode are placed side by side.
