What is vector group in transformer

Three phase transformer consists of three sets of primary windings, one for each phase, and three sets of secondary windings wound on the same iron core. Vector Groups are the IEC method of categorizing the primary and secondary winding configurations of 3-phase transformers. In electrical engineering, a vector group is the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) method of categorizing the high voltage (HV) windings and low voltage (LV) winding configurations of three-phase transformers.

The vector group designation indicates the windings configurations and the difference in phase . The indicates the LV winding leads the HV by degrees.

The following table gives the connections for which from the view point of phase sequence and angular divergences, transformer can be operated parallel.

According to their vector relation, all three phase transformers are divided into different vector group of transformer.

It also determines the high voltage and low voltage windings arrangement of three phase transformers. The three phase transformer is connected in various ways. On the basis of connection , the . Can both these transformers operate in parrallel. Vector group are the group representation of three vectors(magnitude and phase ) for, three phase of the transformer connections(delta or star) of primary and secondary, of three phase transformers.

While connecting in parallel there should be no amplitude, phase and polarity difference, for individual phases, are to be . The clock method is used to produce the numerical index of the vector . Hence every power transformer must undergo through vector group test of transformer at factory site for ensuring the customer specified vector group of transformer. The phase sequence or the order in which the phases reach . Key Words: bank of three phase transformer , vector group. The transformer vector group is indicated on the Name Plate of transformer by the manufacturer. Best method of transformer connection( Vector group ). Introduction to the Delta Wye . Dennis Merchant video on vector diagrams for transformer connections. This video goes with 3rd year transformer connections units of instruction in the Merch . Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Loyola Institute of Technology and Science. Autotransformers do not provide galvanic isolation. They have electroconductive connection between input and output winding. It`s not allowed to take autotransformers for electrically protective separation. If difference between input voltage . What is vector group Iifor transformer ? Why Dynwinding connection is widely used?

Why not other connection like Dyn Dyn Dyn7? It also indicates the degree of phase shift between voltages in other windings wit. Why isn't the primary winding delta-connected that way?

Which is more common-YNdor YNd11? Transformers (electrical): Why DYnwinding connection is used most . First letter in the vector group indicates primary winding(neutral is indicated if present) and the second letter indicate secondary winding and next letter is indicate phase difference between primary and secondary.
